Day 4: Mama's

For anyone who's been to Maui and eaten there, you know why this post is labeled as such. The thought of eating dinner at 8pm wasn't ideal, but given that reservations go quickly and you just call months in advance, we gladly obliged given the opportunity to delight in Mama's delectable dishes. We will start with the family shots that actually occurred at the end of the night because they're my favorite. Family is the best. 💕 My attempts to use the timer on my new camera failed.

Okay, back to the chronological order of the day. We started the day with smoothies filled with spinach. Yes, we bring our NutriBullet with us not only for the blended margaritas but to start our day with some fruit and veggies too. The kids are enjoying feasting on the largest box of Frosted Flakes Costco makes.

Guess what? We saw another doctor! We had to return to Kaiser today for oral antibiotics and different ear drops because poor Emily's ear has gotten worse. It's a full fledged ear infection now but started as swimmer's ear. Another fun morning when we are thankful for insurance.

Those under 60 enjoyed some snorkeling in our wonderful Napili Bay. We say turtles and an enormous school of yellow and black fish. Why can't the fish be this cool in California? We scooped out the area for grandmas impending adventures. She is going to try this for the first time ever someday during our stay. Adventure and wonder  awaits!

A long game of George was played by those unwilling to bake in the sun by the pool. George is a card game that we're pretty sure grandma just made up. It has complicated rules that I haven't bothered to learn quite yet, but the kids played for hours. The NutriBullet got some afternoon use by way of mango margaritas. Yup, it's a hard life over here. I saw a condo 1/2 mile from the Napili Bay for $99,000. Seriously. You can buy it and like in its tiny studio for just $99k. It's tempting, but so far away. Who would visit?

Since Mama's is a drive from our condo we ventured out in the late afternoon and went shopping in Paia before dinner. We found this gorgeous dress that Katie just fell in love with. It was absolutely beautiful on her. We bought it. Expect to see it often because she has sworn to wear it a lot considering how much money it was. How on earth do we have a daughter that is this old? Time flies people. Enjoy the 18 summers you get with them.

Dinner. Yes, the thought of fish consumed our thoughts all day. We planned. We prepared. We fantasized about what we would eat. What we would share. And how much we love this place. We all enjoyed our meals. Katie discovered she likes mahi-mahi and proclaimed that it "tastes like salmon." Emily discovered tomato ginger bisque soup is right up her alley. She could identify the spices really well. I'll let you indulged on the few food photos we remembered to take before chowing down. Oh yeah, dessert was consumed by Gina and Emily. We dined on sweet banana macadamia nut crisp with vanilla ice cream. It was worth it.
